[DWJ] Can someone remind me where the website went?

If I remember correctly, one of the things that seems to come up now (more than it did when teaching it in the past) is that students are creeped out by the age difference between Tom and Polly.

The last time I taught it, I think we discussed the fact that there is the gap when they do not have any contact which (to me) is a way of letting Polly grow up a bit so it is not quite as creepy. But still--I recall students not liking it for that reason and having that response take me by surprise.

Overall, thinking about this, it strikes me that every DWJ book I have ever taught really requires some careful preparation of the students and also requires me to be ready for unexpected responses from the students.

Jackie

Absolutely! Thanks!

And wish me luck, all of you! I am not teaching DWJ until late October-early November, but I am wondering what they will do with the end of _Fire and Hemlock_. Has anyone teaching it suggested that DWJ is treating her readers the way that Thomas Lynn treated Polly? I am thinking that is at least one direction I can take.

Cheers,

Do you mean Chrestomanci Castle? Deborah Kaplan's DWJ site:

I am about to teach _Fire and Hemlock_ and am trying to remember what became of the information on DWJ's old author site. I seem to recall posts about it, and I apologize for being fuzzy on the details, but I have had a particularly crazy last several months.

BTW, I have also directed students to the Oxford Book of Ballads on https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__bartleby.com&d=DQIGaQ&c=Oo8bPJf7k7r_cPTz1JF7vEiFxvFRfQtp-j14fFwh71U&r=ChQZV9av_IvNDkzIpngwUsKJilpddbhq0EMuEXqohmY&m=wrUk8CyAfSmLT6L4pM1Eh048RwZ6BC0CosZXnT4SMSQ&s=bOu_lI0v61SZrbr9SEp2DpepZfutUFx_M8NAKZ8wX8g&e= for Tam Lin and Thomas the Rhymer, along with the extensive Tam Lin site. I think it will be a rich class on fantasy since Tolkien. Right now we are finishing up "On Fairy-Stories." I did not remember quite how dense it is.

I miss the more active days of this site, though I was mostly just reading posts.
