[DWJ] Living in other series

Cat actually -did- die being born.  It says so specifically, and then one of
the apparitions is his baby life--remember, with the head so big it
shouldn't be walking?  So the other eight must have just died first, and
gotten to him in time to keep him from dying all the way.
