It does pre-date Conrad's fate, but to be honest this Conrad only gets about three paragraphs of text so it's difficult to get any strong sense of his character, except that he has a powerful magical talent. Which could be said of both Nick and the Conrad of Conrad's Fate. Maybe it was just a name she liked, and really wanted to use somewhere!

notable similarities between the two characters apart from the name? Or
does this Conrad feel much like Nick, who took over his role?
