[DWJ] OT: A request for librarians

In a list loaded with librarians I was waiting for others, perhaps more expert, to reply. Perhaps they have, off list, but I'll offer my opinion. There are standard library ways of cataloging anything, however they are not always very useful in cataloging specialised collections. The main question to ask is what do they want the catalog to show? physical location of games, types of games, perhaps opinions of games, related games, and so on. If games are loaned out knowing who has it is very useful too. How big a colelction are we looking at? If someone has skills with database programs perhaps one can be adapted for this, there also seem to be quite a few freeware/shareware programs out there.

Subject: [DWJ] OT: A request for librarians

This is OT for the DWJ list, so I'll summarise: an organisation I know
is wanting to organise its collection of games. Is there any
library-standard way of doing this? If you're interested, get in touch
with me and I'll pass on more data and contact information.

ObDWJ: No, _proper_ games, not those with people as the pieces.
