Diana Wynne Jones. A conference.
Location: Watershed Media Centre, Bristol.
Date: 26th, 27th and 28th June 2009.
Organisers: Chris Bell, Charles Butler, Farah Mendlesohn.
Since Diana Wynne Jones lives in Bristol she hopes to attend for part of the
conference but as I am sure you all understand, this is dependent upon her
Call for Papers
On any and all aspects of the writing of Diana Wynne Jones, on her influence
and influences. Papers on fan activity and scholarship, TV and film
adaptations also welcome.
Conference Registration (includes three lunches):
The following costs are valid until January 2009 when they may be raised if
the room hire fees have gone up substantially.
Full price: £140
Full time student: £90.*
*Applications for discount on other grounds will be considered on a case by
Accommodation will be in a local hotel. This is currently being negotiated
and we will also be able to assist people looking for other options. Hotel
details will be made available in 2008.
About the organisers:
Chris Bell has been involved at committee level in running Eastercon, the
annual British Science Fiction Convention for more than fifteen years. She
lives in Bristol.
Charles Butler writes fantasy for children and is a well known scholar in
the field (his book Four British Fantasists has been nominated for a
Mythopoeic Award). He is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Western
Farah Mendlesohn has organised and co-organised several academic conferences
and been on the committee of an Easter convention. In 2005 she published
Diana Wynne Jones, Children's Literature and the Fantastic Tradition. She is
a Principal Lecturer at Middlesex University,
