The other "-er" endings I can think of all come from English city
names (New Yorker, Lynner).
So if you can have a New Yorker, and a person from the county of
Yorkshire would call themselves a Yorkshireman or a Yorkshirewoman, what
about a resident of the city of York? Is it different for York, England
than for other Yorks - Canada, for instance?
