Well, not to begin with, anyway.
'The Song of Mavin Many-shaped', the first (chronologically) of the
True Game series, is the Tepper book that I love with the fewest
reservations. It's relatively straightforward adventure story, and
even has a happy ending if you're smart enough to leave the rest of
the series alone.
