There's a scene in CF where Christopher and Conrad are in the library
and Christopher gets cramp in his leg. Conrad straightens the leg out.
I have been trying to work out the point of this scene. From a plot
point of view, the cramp keeps them in the same place so they can
overhear an important conversation taking place in the library, but that
seems a rather thin plot device for DWJ. Her plots are tightly
constructed and incidents usually have more point than that. It gives
Conrad a chance to help Christopher in a crisis and demonstrate that he
is competent and shows that Christopher is not all-powerful, but this
also seems rather thin.
Am I missing something?
