Regarding the question about talking to bees, I seem to remember a short
story I read once about someone who had died, and one of the things the
family did was go to tell the bees in her garden of her death.  For some
reason I have it in my head that it was a story by Hawthorne, but it is a
very fuzzy memory, so I can't give any more details.

This isn't a very helpful post after all, is it?  :)
