It means 'love', both as the abstract noun denoting the emotion of love, and
as an endearment.

> Exclusively so, I'd say. Hwyl would be the Welsh spelling, I think.

Hwyl means 'sail' and also fun, luck- poss because of the favourable winds
implication. Also commonly used as 'bye'. It is not connected to the name
Hywel.
