Those were Irish pounds (we still had those, then!).  I can't remember what
the exchange rate was, though, but probably something like 70p sterling to
one Irish pound.  That was per A4 page, btw, in Times-12 single-spaced or
equivalent, so...hmm...maybe 700 words or so?
