Americanisms (was RE: Sorcery and Cecilia and Desert Island books)

I live in CT and for us a carbonated beverage is definitely a soda.  
Unless it is fancy carbonated juice, in which case it is described as 
"sparkling", or sometimes "fizzy" or "bubbly".

The baby gets pushed around mostly in a stroller.  A baby carriage or 
bassinet is for a reclining baby.

The groceries are put in shopping bags.

We call the long sandwiches subways.


And about the desert island:
If it had to be one book, it would be Hexwood.  I'll think about the 
other 7.
