If she wants 'old-fashioned', you can't do better than the ghost stories of M.R. James, I think ('Ghost Stories of an Antiquary' and its sequel). Or if she already knows those, there are the similar (but not quite as good) ones of E.F. Benson, which range nicely from the horrific to the merely eerie. (I think he does one or two vampires, but they're in a minority.)
