Attitudes to witches

The question to answer this question is; do you mean "witch" as in function, 
or do you actually require that the character be *called* a witch. George 
McDonald had a couple of them, but carefully never called them by that name. There 
was Irene's great-great-however-many-times-great-grandmother, and there was 
the Wise Woman.
