book suggestions

For fantasy, and just sticking to Australian books,
how about Garth Nix's Sabriel or James Moloney's The
Book of Lies (although this one is perhaps aimed at
people a few years younger tham years 9-10). For SF
perhaps John Heffernan's CBD, or John Marsden's
Tomorrow When the war Began, although that is only
marginally sf - but very popular. Victor Kelleher's
Tahronga is a book that many school's already have
class sets of, as are Jillian Rubenstein's Space
Demons and Isobel Carmody's books - the Gathering and
Obernewton.
