Pullman and Le Guin

  I wonder if Pullman's "correction" (2000) had some influence on Le Guin's "correction" (2001). Those last two dates are too close together for this speculation to have much hope of being true at the end.

  You're probably right - but maybe they were both swept along by a millenial (if not millenialist) Zeitgeist: 'Surely the Second Coming is at hand' and all that - what better time to harrow hell?
