Question: "High" concepts in Fantasy

When you mix fantasy and Irish, you get Roberta MacAvoy's _The Grey
Horse_, in which people's names are spelled differently depending on
whether they're being spoken by English or Irish speakers.  Which puts
a poignant touch on the English spellings the narrator gives to one born
Irishman...

Pan-Celtic tours to Tir Na N'Og, pronounced the Many Colored Land,
anyone?  And how does she spell Merlin in that Tough Guide entry?
