Acording to Mr Crisp; after 4 years the dust dosen't get any thicker.

And iirc, the Beaton recipe was for jugged hare where the instruction was to 
first catch one. Rabbits, after all are domestic and if you aren't raising 
your own you can buy one from the butcher or poulterer. But hares are wild and 
you have to catch them.
