Wasn't it about the '60s that "coffee bars" got popular in England? Or at 
least London?
(I started tripping over them in English books of about that period. I think 
it was a "swinging London" thing.)Once you start tripping over them whenever 
you go out you may very well decide it's cheaper to make it at home.
