I am also a long-term fan of this novel-- which also contains an account of
a novel I'd love to read!

People might also like to look at The New Moon with the Old, The Town in
Bloom, It Ends in Revelation (a title which I might have slightly wrong),
and Tale of Two Families (another such). I don't care much for Tale of Two
Families and even got rid of my copy, but I really love the others. Most
people seem to like The New Moon with the Old best. All of them contain the
same sort of fresh-perspective-in-a-minor-key voice one likes in I Capture
the Castle. Unfortunately they are difficult to find. Libraries which don't
cull older novels off-hand may have them, though, and ILL is as always a
boon.

I would also recommend Smith's autobiographical books, all with titles
starting "Look Back with". It is particularly interesting to connect the
novels with her own story.

(I also have Dear Octopus and Autumn Crocus, but have not yet read them. The
plays seem to be even harder to find than the novels.)
