Someone here mentioned Martin Pippin in the Apple Orchard. It is the book
that Daisy Field is a sequal to. The young dairymaids that he tells love
stories to are the mothers of the little girls in the daisy field. (and it
wasn't the top of a tower. It was a well house. And she wasn't the daughter
of a king, but of a farmer.) The first book is love stories, the second
claims to be bedtime stories, but are a bit too exciting for that IMHO.
