You flatter me unduly. The sentence itself referenced others - Michael 
Marshall Smith came up with the concept of "collapsed code" in his novel
_Spares_. Programmers were writing material that later became a cipher,
a ticked reference to object-oriented code that nobody any longer
understood, unpacked or decompiled.
