The world Christopher Chant visits with Tacroy in The Lives of Christopher Chant has many rivers, inhabited by giant eels that sun themselves on sandbars and stranger creatures that grunt and stir the mud beneath the many bridges.

The liver of a giant eel from Series Two is worth a great deal on the magical black market.
